A group of Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) employees has surprised the team at local cancer charity Help Harry Help Others (HHHO) by volunteering extra shifts at the charity’s cancer support centre in East Birmingham.
With vehicle production temporarily paused following the recent cyber attack, workers decided to build on their company’s corporate social responsibility commitments by helping local communities. At HHHO, this meant rolling up their sleeves to carry out building maintenance and practical tasks - and, in a heart-warming extra effort, hand-making 500 bracelets in Birmingham City Football Club colours to raise funds for the charity.
The HHHO cancer centre provides free services including counselling, financial advice, and support groups, helping hundreds of families across Birmingham every year. With demand rising during the ongoing cost of living crisis, extra support has been warmly welcomed.
Founder and CEO of HHHO, Georgie Moseley, said: “We are so grateful to the team from JLR who gave up their time to come and support us. Small independent charities like ours rely on volunteers and community partners to keep our doors open and services running. It means so much to know we’ve got local people and businesses standing alongside us.”
She added: “The need for our services has never been greater. More families are turning to us, not only for emotional and practical support but also just to feel less alone. Having the JLR team here - from fixing up our building to making bracelets that will raise vital funds - reminds us that community really does make all the difference.”
HHHO has invited local businesses and individuals to follow JLR’s example and get involved, whether by donating time, fundraising, or offering professional skills to strengthen the charity’s work.
