HCRG Care Group, the UK’s largest community health services specialist, has donated laptops to the Still Waters Group of Schools in Zimbabwe as part of its £3m investment in a full IT refresh across the organisation.
Building on its commitment to sustainability and social value, HCRG Care Group has recycled hundreds of high-quality devices no longer needed internally and donated them as part of its scheme to cut down on waste, reduce carbon, and provide students with vital access to modern learning tools.
Still Waters Group of Schools is a co-educational boarding and day school in Mashonaland East, Zimbabwe. Founded in 2012, it now has two campuses and over 300 students, with a focus on academic excellence, creativity, and Christian values.
Dr Plaudius A Sikiretah, Founder of Still Water Group of Schools, said: “We were honoured to celebrate the laptop donation from HCRG Care Group with a special ceremony. Being chosen as a partner means a great deal to us, and we’re excited about the opportunities this will create for our students. These laptops will enhance learning and open new paths to success.”
The IT renewal ensures HCRG Care Group’s 5,500 colleagues have the technology they need to deliver high-quality, digitally enabled health and care services – from community nursing and children’s services to sexual health and urgent care. The investment also supports the national shift from analogue to digital services outlined in the NHS Long Term Plan.
Patrick Birchall, Chief Executive Officer at HCRG Care Group, said: “Our mission is to change lives by transforming health and care, and that means investing in the tools and technology our colleagues need to deliver the very best services. By re-using and recycling devices, we can extend that impact beyond our own organisation – preventing waste, reducing carbon, and helping young people in communities like Still Waters to unlock new opportunities for learning and growth.”
Chidangwara S., Head Student at Still Waters, said: “On behalf of all the students, I want to say a huge thank you. This donation is more than just hardware; it is an investment in our potential. You have given us a tool to connect with the world, to learn without limits, and to build a brighter future for ourselves and for Zimbabwe. We are incredibly grateful.”
Nyandoro N., a Form 2 student, added: “Wow! I’ve only ever seen laptops like this in movies. Before, we had to share one or two textbooks between the whole class. Now, with the internet, it feels like we have a million books right here. I can’t wait to start my next history project!”
The IT upgrade forms part of HCRG Care Group’s wider Quality Promise, ensuring safe and secure use of digital tools in line with information governance standards, while enabling colleagues to work more efficiently and spend more time with the people they support.
The donation also reflects HCRG Care Group’s wider commitment to prevention and community benefit, helping to create healthier futures not only in the UK but across the globe.
