Lea Hall Academy Joins Thrive Education Partnership
The new Kitts Green Academy
Birmingham-based multi academy trust Thrive Education Partnership, has confirmed that Lea Hall Academy, a specialist boys-only academy for pupils aged 5–14 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in Birmingham, has formally joined the Trust on 1 September 2025, following approximately a year of informal support.
Over the past twelve months, Thrive has helped Lea Hall Academy to strengthen safeguarding, stabilise staffing, and initiate curriculum redevelopment. The move marks a transition to a sustained phase of improvement under Thrive’s strategic leadership.
Richard Chapman, CEO of Thrive Education Partnership, said: “The academy has faced real challenges, but it is a community with dedicated staff and genuine potential. Over the past year, our team has been working closely alongside staff and pupils to lay solid foundations. Becoming part of our trust will allow us to build on that with focus, expertise and commitment.”
During that year of support, safeguarding at the academy has now been assessed as effective by external monitors, and Thrive will continue to support the development of leadership, teaching quality, and family engagement.
Parents and carers will begin to see tangible changes, including a name change, a refreshed academy identity and more opportunities for parents and carers to engage with senior leadership.
Lea Hall Academy will become Kitts Green Academy.
Importantly, the Trust also intends to apply to extend the age range to include Year 11, enabling pupils to stay until age 16 and achieve recognised qualifications within a supportive environment. That should mean a significant improvement in opportunities for young people moving on to the next stage of their lives, education and careers.
“This is about creating a stable, purposeful environment where children feel they belong and families have confidence that genuine change is happening.” Chapman added.
Thrive Education Partnership is a values-led multi-academy trust currently supporting six specialist academies across Birmingham, Coventry, Walsall and Warwickshire. The Trust has a strong track record in complex school improvement, grounded in inclusive values, therapeutic support and evidence-based leadership.
